SUNSHINE STATE SENIOR
WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION

About us…

Sunshine State Senior WGA was founded back in 1966 by a group of women who realized the need to have an “Open” format for women golfers over the age of 50 to compete in Florida.  The original group of eighteen were all just turning fifty, but did not yet qualify to play in other state senior events.  The SSSWGA as you see it today grew from this small seed those many years ago.

SSSWGA hosts two tournaments a year...a team event (partners) in June, and a medal play Championship in October.

To be eligible, women amateur golfers must be 50 or more years of age by the first day of a tournament and be a member of a Florida regulation golf course.  Current USGA handicap indexes are required; maximum allowable is specific to each tournament.

While we are not a “members only” association requiring an annual membership fee, SSS boasts a very fine, well-structured organization that attracts a good number of regulars who return time after time, forming a substantial base for quality tournaments.

Our organization is dedicated to promoting good fellowship, good  sportsmanship, good golf…and putting some extra fun back into the game!
